Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has predicted a narrow victory for his former side when they take on Tottenham in the Premier League on Saturday. Both sides head into the game at Old Trafford with 20 points apiece though United are ahead on goal difference.
United will be looking to pick up their title push following a draw and a loss against Liverpool and Huddersfield respectively. United boss Jose Mourinho was criticized in particular during the Liverpool game for using defensive tactics. Some even questioned whether his intention was to draw the game.
Giggs has suggested that the United manager will likely use the same tactics when United take on Spurs. He however predicted that United will narrowly win the game and said: “Manchester United versus Tottenham has always been, both at Old Trafford and White Hart Lane, an attractive game.
“Obviously we’ve got a good record over them at home and I would have said before the last week that Manchester United will win when they face Spurs on Saturday.
“However, I now think that United need to win it more than Tottenham. It’s a huge game and the crowd will really be up for it, but if you go after Tottenham they can get you.
“You always want to put in a good performance but United just need a scrappy 1-0 win. I think Jose Mourinho and the fans would take that and forget about producing an entertaining performance.”
