West Ham boss Bilic explains the reason behind axing Joe Hart

Joe Hart

West Ham manager Slaven Bilic has denied his decision to axe goalkeeper Joe Hart for the club’s Carabao Cup encounter with Tottenham on Wednesday as being due to his blunder during the clubs 3-0 defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League on Friday.

Hart was subjected to criticism for conceding Jose Izquierdo’s striker and the Hammers ended up falling to a 3-0 defeat.

It has since been confirmed that Adrian will replace Hart in goal for West Ham’s encounter against Tottenham on Wednesday and Bilic has denied that this is due to the formers mistake against Brighton.

He said: “Against Brighton we made a few mistakes and shipped three goals. But it’s not because of that Adrian will be in goal. It was a plan from the beginning of the season and Adrian did well in his [League Cup] games.”

Tottenham will head into the match as the firm favorites but the Hammers will be looking to cause an upset.
