Shock candidate wants either Everton or Leicester City job

Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has revealed that he is keen on the Everton and Leicester City managerial vacancies.

Following their poor starts to the season both teams have parted ways with their managers and Giggs has been jobless since he left his role as assistant manager of Manchester United when the club appointed Jose Mourinho as manager in 2016.

Giggs said about the prospect, “I think you look at those two teams, Leicester being champions two seasons ago, Everton being a fantastic club with a fantastic history, for me these are clubs I would be interested in. However, there are a lot of coaches out there who would be interested in those positions.

“I’ve said all along that I’d be open to clubs which share the ambitions of myself. I want to improve clubs and improve players, to enjoy working for them and for players to enjoy the challenge. There are clubs in the Premier League which would be good jobs but also in the Championship and League One. It’s more about the philosophy for me than the stature of the club.”

What may work against the 43 year old is that he has very little managerial experience at the highest level.

The only time that he has managed at the highest level was when he took temporary charge of United in 2014 for four matches after David Moyes was sacked. He has however thrown his name into the hat for the Everton and Leicester vacancies.
