Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has blasted his teams’ defence following their 4-1 defeat at the hands of Tottenham at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.
The march marked Spurs first victory over the Reds under Mauricio Pochettino and also means that Klopp’sside are already 12 points adrift of first placed Manchester City in the League standings.
Liverpool’s defensive fragilities continued to haunt them during the game and despite Mohamed Salah scoring during the first half, a double from Harry Kane as well as goals from Dele Alli and Heung-Son Min sealed a rout for the North London club.
Klopp blasted his defense and mentioned that if he were on the pitch, the first goal at least would not have been scored.
He said: “The first goal would not happen if I was on the pitch but I’m the middle of the technical area in trainers. Harry cannot get the ball but it was an open ball. We had more players there than them.
“Do we need to be prepared for a situation like this? Yes – we are usually. Each job is clear but we did not do it. I cannot fix it here. If I’m involved in this situation on the pitch, then Harry cannot get the ball.”
