Liverpool make moves to acquire the services of talented Dutchman

Towering Dutch defender Perr Schuurs has reportedly trained with Liverpool with the view of signing for the Merseyside team.

Schuurs is already the captain of his current team Fortuna Sittard, who play in the Dutch second division, and he has reportedly trained with Liverpool during the past weeks with the view of singing for the Reds in the future.

The 6’ 3” Dutchman is said to have impressed the Liverpool youth coaches, currently headed by Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard, during his time there and now a transfer to England looks very likely for the youngster.

The Reds seem to have a strong affinity towards towering Dutch defenders as Schuurs is not be the first centre-back from the Netherlands that the Merseyside team has trailed in recent memory.

Liverpool had a long, drawn out but eventually unsuccessful transfer saga during the summer involving Southampton defender Virgil Van Djik.

While Liverpool failed to sign Van Djik, they have a much better chance of signing Schuurs, and if the youngster will develop to anywhere close to the level of Dutch compatriot then he certainly has a bright future ahead of him in Premier League.
