Despite starting the new season on a high and very promising note, Leeds United have been hit with a poor run of form of recent, losing 4 of their past 5 Championship games.
The early frontrunners are now 6th on the league log following weekend’s defeat at the hands of Reading, and the fans are beginning to get irritated.
Whites defender Gaetano Berardi, however, calls for positivity after hearing some distasteful comments from the home crowd during Saturday’s 1-nil loss.
The Swiss fullback told Leeds TV post-match: “It is great to see the stadium so full here at Elland Road, and we need to take some good results for (the fans) but I would like to say a message to them – we would like to hear them more positive because I could hear some bad things during the game.
“That’s normal and it’s football but it is important that everyone remains positive, the players, staff and everyone in the crowd.”
Leeds visit fourth-placed Bristol City at Ashton Gate on Saturday, and anything outside of a victory will very much see them fall off the playoff zone.
The club’s fans have been highly supportive both home and away this season, with the average attendance at Elland Road more than what has been witnessed in recent times.
While emotions run high during poor results and games, the players still need the fans to get behind them at such difficult periods, as positive crowd reactions could prove vital in inspiring a losing side to victory.
