Football pundit Jamie Redknapp has said that West Ham striker Andy Carroll may need to change if he wishes to avoid silly red-cards.
Carroll was sent off during the first half of his team’s 1-1 draw with Burnley during the weekend after receiving two yellow cards within the space of 90 seconds.
SlavenBilic’s men took the lead when Michail Antonio opened the scoring. However they were put on the back foot after Carroll received his marching orders and they had to change their game plan.
Despite being at a disadvantage, the Hammers played well and looked headed for a win. However Chris Wood managed to rescue a point for his side after heading home a cross from Johann Berg Gudmundsson’s cross.
“We all know about Andy Carroll’s aerial prowess. Now he needs to use his head to avoid silly red cards like his dismissal at Turf Moor,” said Redknapp.
“What was Carroll thinking leading with his elbow twice in a matter of minutes? He not only cost West Ham two points but himself a game. Carroll has missed so much through injury that he cannot afford any needless suspensions.”
