Jermain Defoe was given a hero’s welcome by Tottenham fans as he came off the bench for Bournemouth during their 1-0 defeat to Spurs at Wembley on Saturday.
The 35 year old Defoe was a fan favorite during his time with Spurs and scored 143 goals from 363 appearances for the club during three stints with them.
He was also a squad member when Spurs last won a major trophy which was when they prevailed in the League Cup in 2008 and was named Spurs player of the year in 2004.
He was sent on to replace Junior Stanislas and the veteran forward received a heroic welcome by fans of his former club.
Defoe joined the Cherries this summer after Sunderland were relegated from the Premier League last season.
The veteran arguably still has what it takes to compete in the Premier League as he was named Sunderland player of the year in 2016.
