Liverpool snubbed twice by highly decorated manager

Mourinho

According to a report published by Yahoo Sport, Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho rejected the chance to manage Liverpool not once but twice.

Mourinho first made a name for himself as a manager after he guided FC Porto to the Champions League title. It was then that the Reds first approached him to become their manager.

A meeting had been held ahead of Porto’s round of 16 defeat of Manchester United to find out if he was interested in replacing Gerard Houllier.

Mourinho had even publically expressed interest in taking on the Liverpool job though Chelsea moved quickly to secure him ahead of their Anfield rivals.

It has since also been revealed by sources close to Mourinho that he had been offered the chance to manage Liverpool by Fenway Sports Group in 2014 after Chelsea were performing poorly in the Premier League and it was becoming likely that he was going to be sacked.

He however declined the offer thinking that he could turn things around.
