West Ham midfielder speaks about his struggles and the importance of patience

West Ham youngster Reece Oxford has revealed that he is still patiently waiting to receive an opportunity at German club Borussia Monchengladbach.

The 18 year old was sent on a season long loan deal to the Bundesliga outfit during the summer, however he has yet to make a first team appearance for the club.

Oxford would certainly have been hoping that he could have used his time in Germany to try and convince the Hammers hierarchy that he is worthy of first team opportunities.  However should things carry on the way that they are, he will likely return to England in January.

He said about his situation: “I think I’m fitter than ever now. I’ve done pre-season with Gladbach, I feel good and ready, I’m just waiting for my opportunity.

“It’s patience, I’m young, watching the centre-backs ahead of me, and seeing what I can do to make me better. I’m just ready now, ready to make my debut, and hopefully it’ll be good and I won’t look back from there.

“I just hope to return to West Ham as a more experienced player, ready to play in the Premier League or any league.”
