Match Preview
Wales has been a very solid team in these qualifiers, currently second in Group D with 17 points. The Dragons are coming from a slim 1-0 away win against Georgia, where a goal by Tom Lawrence led the team with the three points from the game. Chris Coleman will be without Gareth Bale for this match but his squad did show that it is capable of winning games without its star player in its last match against Georgia. This will be a much tougher opponent with astronomically higher stakes for both teams and the home-field advantage may not be enough for Wales to get the favorable result.
The Republic of Ireland is currently third in Group D with 16 points and will be looking for the three points from this game for a possible ticket to Russia. The draw does not favor the Irish side at all and it will go all out to try and get the win at Cardiff City Stadium. The Green Army is coming off a 2-0 win against Moldova but this match will be a much tougher task. Like Wales with Gareth Bale, Martin O’Neill also has a noticeable absence in Everton’s Seamus Coleman. The game is set to be one of best in this round of the qualifiers with the monumental prize of obtaining the three points from this game.
