Match Preview
Mexico has already secured a spot in the 2018 FIFA World Cup and this game should not be much of a problem. Juan Carlos Osorio is surely taking this game seriously as he and Mexico are looking for a first-place finish out of the CONCACAF region. El Tri does seem confident going into the encounter, even changing the venue from the usual Estadio Azteca in Mexico City to the Estadio Alfonso Lastras in San Luis Potosi.
There were not many surprises on Juan Carlos Osorio’s roster, 12 players who play in Europe make up the majority of the squad with 11 players from the Liga MX and two MLS players as well. Mexico defeated T&T 1-0 away from home the last time the two teams met and this game should present an even more comfortable win for El Tri in front of a home crowd.
Trinidad & Tobago technically still has a chance at that fourth-place finish but is realistically already eliminated from contending for a spot in the next World Cup. The Islanders have lost their last five games in these qualifiers, recently coming off a 3-0 thrashing against Panama.
This game should not prove to be very competitive but it is unclear if Juan Carlos Osorio will give opportunities to some of the players who usually do not get into the starting XI. Either way, Mexico should walk away with the three points from the game and solidify its stance in the CONCACAF region.
