Match Preview
Italy is currently second in Group G with 19 points, just three points back of first-place Spain. Gli Azzurri pretty much has at least a spot in the playoffs secured but will be looking for that direct spot for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Gian Piero Ventura’s men have won five of their last six games in these qualifiers, most recently coming off a 1-0 win against Israel. Ciro Immobile has been one of Ventura’s best players with six goals in this competition so far, Andrea Belotti is not too far behind with four goals of his own. This game should be a walk in the park for the home team facing a very weak Macedonia side.
Macedonia is already mathematically eliminated from a chance at making the 2018 FIFA World Cup with two wins, a draw and five losses up to this point. The Red Lions are undefeated in their last two games with a win against Israel and a draw against Albania.
Macedonia does have some notable players like team captain Goran Pandev but there is a very evident quality gap between the two teams. Italy defeated Macedonia 3-2 away from home the last time the two teams met and this game should also result in a win for Gli Azzurri.
