Match Preview

Costa Rica is currently second with 15 points and has already secured at least a fourth-place finish. Of course, Los Ticos will be looking to get wins in their last two games to get a direct spot in the 2018 FIFA World Cup as opposed to a spot in the inter-confederation play-offs. The Central American team is undefeated in its last five games, this includes a very impressive 2-1 away win against the United States in the last international break.

Head coach Oscar Ramirez has one of the best squads in the region with players like Keylor Navas, Celso Borges and Brayan Ruiz. Los Ticos will have a tough match but the home-field advantage should propel the team to the three points from the game.

Honduras is still in the hunt for a top-four finish, currently fifth with nine points, just behind on goal differential to the United States in fourth. Los Catrachos are undefeated in their last three games, most recently coming off a hard-fought 1-1 draw against the United States.

Most of the squad plays domestically but there are four MLS players and even two players, who play in Spain, Tenerife’s Brayan Acosta and Barcelona’s Anthony Lozano. This is a must-win game for Jorge Luis Pinto’s side but it will be an extremely tough task, especially away from home.
