Match Preview
Venezuela has proven to be the worst team in these CONMEBOL World Cup qualifiers, currently, last on the table with just eight points. La Vinotinto is already mathematically eliminated from making the next World Cup but has managed to complicate things for other teams in the region, most notably Argentina.
Venezuela somehow has pulled off two draws against Argentina in these qualifiers, one of the two coming in the latest matchday of the competition. Uruguay is the clear favorite to take the three points from this game but it could prove to be a much more complicated match than expected.
Uruguay is the mix with six other teams for three direct World Cup spots and a spot in the inter-confederation play-offs. Los Charruas are currently second with 27 points but only four points separate Uruguay in second with Chile in sixth place. This is a must-win game for Oscar Tabarez’s men especially coming up against a really winnable opponent. The match should prove to be a hard-fought encounter as Venezuela is surely not going down without a respectable performance.
