Match Preview
Uganda has been a surprising team in these CAF qualifiers, currently in second with seven points. The Cranes have won two of its last three games but are coming off a 1-0 loss against first-place Egypt. The Eastern African side is only two points back of Egypt but only two points ahead of Ghana, making this game crucial for both teams. This should be a very tough game for Uganda even with the home-field advantage but it should still prove to be a close encounter.
Ghana is currently third in Group E with five points but seems to be a team that has potential to fight for that World Cup spot. The Black Stars are coming off a dominant 5-1 win against Congo and are undefeated in the competition so far. Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey has been a vital player for the Western African side with four goals in the tournament so far.
There are several talented players on James Kwesi Appiah’s side like Partey, Jeffrey Schlupp, Daniel Amartey, Christian Atsu and Andre and Jordan Ayew. Ghana does have the much stronger squad but Uganda will count with the home-field advantage that should make for a very intense and entertaining game.
