Match Preview
Scotland is currently fourth in Group F with 14 points, just a point behind Slovakia in second and six points behind first-place England. The British side is undefeated in its last four games and has outscored its opponents 5-0 in its last two games in these qualifiers. Leigh Griffiths has been one of the more impressive players in this undefeated run with three goals in four games for his country.
This includes the two goals that gave Scotland a 2-2 draw against England in the sixth matchday of the competition. Gordon Strachan’s men have been undefeated at home throughout these World Cup qualifiers and this should be a tough but very winnable game.
Slovakia has been a potent side in these UEFA qualifiers, currently second in Group F with 15 points. The Falcons are coming off a 2-1 loss against England away from home but were undefeated in their last five games before that defeat. Manager Jan Kozak has a very talented squad with standout players like Martin Skrtel and Marek Hamsik. This should be one of the most contested encounters in this round of the UEFA qualifiers and should prove to be a very entertaining game.
