Match Preview
Kosovo has nothing to play for going into this match, currently bottom of the highly competitive Group I of the competition with only one point and a goal differential of negative 17. The Southeastern European side’s lone draw in these qualifiers came against Finland and this should prove to be a very complicated game for the home team. Kosovo’s players are spread across leagues in Europe but there is a clear gap in the quality of players compared to Ukraine that should be present in this game.
Ukraine is in a hard-fought battle with three other teams for a direct spot in the 2018 FIFA World Cup and a spot in the playoffs. The Yellow-Blue is currently in fourth place with 14 points but only two points separate them from second-place Iceland and first-place Croatia. These last two games will be decisive for Andriy Shevchenko’s men especially the match after this one, coming up against Croatia. Borussia Dortmund’s Andriy Yarmolenko will be one of the main players to watch in the game as he is going into the encounter in tremendous form with five goals in these qualifiers. Ukraine should easily pick up the three points from the game as it did the last time the two teams met, where it achieved a 3-0n win at home.
