Celtic have established themselves as the team to beat in the Scottish topflight of recent, taking home all last 6 league titles, including a treble last campaign.
The Hoops are yet to see defeat domestically since Brendan Rodgers took over last summer, and are 180 minutes away from extending the streak to 60 unbeaten matches.
While the success has no doubt been impressive, former Celtic player Lubo Moravcik believes Rangers’ failure to keenly challenge their Old Firm rivals undermines its worth.
The Slovakian icon, who won back-to-back titles under Martin O’Neill in 2001 and 2002, recently disclosed: “Without Rangers, it is much easier to get all these victories in the Scottish league.
“It is not the same without Rangers. It was a rivalry but it is not the same. Aberdeen have tried to be close to Celtic these last two or three years — but they have not been good enough.
“Maybe when Rangers are back stronger, like they were ten years ago, it will be harder for Celtic.
“But now Celtic are dominating and they deserve to be there, because they are playing well, scoring goals and are playing in the Champions League.”
Rangers last won the league in the 2010-11 season, and only recently returned to the Scottish Premiership last season after spending 4 seasons in the lower tiers.
Manager Pedro Caixinha recruited 11 players, spending around £8million during the summer transfer window, but the Gers are still far from capable of reaching Celtic’s standard.
Massive quality and expensive recruitments going forward should see the Ibrox outfit finally mount a strong title challenge, but it doesn’t appear the management is financially ready to embark on such move yet.
