Tottenham star Dele Alli has been given a one match ban for the gesture that he made when the Three Lions faced off against Slovakia early in September.
The 21-year-old Alli appeared to swear at the referee and make a middle figure to team-mate Kyle Walker during the 2-1 victory for his country.
He has claimed that the gesture made towards Walker was a joke between the two. Fifa have however taken the case very seriously and decided to punish the two time PFA Young Player of the year award winner on Friday.
Fifa, who deemed the incident to be “offensive”, also fined the player £4,000. Alli will now miss England’s next game against Slovenia and will likely make his return when they play against Lithuania three days later.
Alli is still very young and can be forgiven for his antics. Hopefully he uses it as a learning experience.
