Celtic were 10 minutes away from losing their first domestic game in 58 attempts since manager Brendan Rodgers arrived, but an equalizer against Hibernian on Saturday at Parkhead ensured the impressive run of the Bhoys continued.
Former Celtic boss Neil Lennon inspired his men to a 2-all draw upon his first visit as a manager to Glasgow, and Rodgers claimed the quality of his fellow Northern Irishman makes him Premier League quality.
Speaking ahead of the game, the erstwhile Liverpool boss claimed Lennon would have been the ideal choice to replace David Moyes at Goodison Park when he left Everton for Manchester United.
Rodgers told the club’s official website prior to the Hibs clash: “Neil is brilliant manager and I have a lot of time and respect for him.
“He was a fantastic player and had a great playing career here at Celtic. It’s not an easy job to do but to then move from playing to becoming the manager at Celtic was absolutely magnificent.
“I remember I was at Liverpool and at the time Everton were looking for a manager and I thought a perfect candidate would’ve been Neil Lennon.
“When you manage Celtic, you can manage any club. That was my feeling, so without being disrespectful, when he went to Bolton I was surprised because he’s definitely a Premier League manager.”
Lennon led Hibees to the Scottish Championship title and promotion back to the Scottish Premiership after a 3-season absence in his maiden campaign in charge last term.
His side have lost just once in the Scottish topflight thus far, winning 3 and drawing 4.
Everton on the other hand haven’t quite managed to establish themselves as a top 4 team, and current boss Ronald Koeman is under pressure after a dismal start to the new EPL campaign.
Should Lennon continue to impress at Hibernian, an English topflight job could be his sooner or later.
