Breaking into the senior team at a side like Rangers’ doesn’t come easy for youth players, and it’s a reality 19-year-old goalkeeper Robbie McCrorie is currently facing.
The Scottish youngster is currently on a season-long loan with Scottish League Two side Berwick Rangers, and is hoping to follow in the footsteps of his twin brother Ross.
The defender made his first team bow in last week’s Old Firm’s loss to Celtic, and is set to remain a crucial part of manager Pedro Caixinha first-team plans this term.
Robbie believes he could be next, telling the Scottish Sun: “You have to keep your head down and work hard at a club as big as Rangers, then take your chance if it comes.
“Maybe I’ll move up a level on loan next season. I’ll see what the manager wants.
“One day, though, the first team is obviously where I want to be. The dream has never changed, for me or Ross.”
The imposing 6’2 goalkeeper has been touted as one to watch for a while and he featured in the Scottish Youth Cup Final last season.
Thus far, Robbie has made 13 appearances across all competitions for Berwick, keeping 2 clean sheets.
With the duo of Wes Foderingham and Jak Alnwick blocking his path to first team football at Rangers, another loan move would surely suffice in helping the young shotstopper continue his growth.
