Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has admitted that the reason why Mousa Sissoko is still with the club this season is because they did not receive good offers for him during the summer.
After joining the Lilywhites prior to the start of last season for £30 million from Newcastle, Sissoko failed to impress at the club and there were rumors suggesting that he would leave the club in order to get more game time to boost his chances of making the France squad for the 2018 World Cup.
The 28-year-old however has received a second chance to shine this season due to the injury problem of Mousa Dembele and has done a good job so far.
Whilst talking about the Frenchman, Pochettino said, “The player was the first [to be] interested to move or to leave because he wanted to play more in a season that has the World Cup at the end.
“But I think maybe that possibility didn’t exist and I was more than happy for him to stay and to give him the possibility to play.”
