Monterrey vs Santos Match Preview

Monterrey has been dominant in this Apertura 2017 currently leading the league with 23 points after nine games. La Pandilla inclusively has a very impressive goal differential of 13 far above everyone else in the Liga MX, Tigres UANL coming in with seven as the second-best goal differential. Los Rayados are still undefeated this season and have won their last two games coming against Necaxa and Atlas.

Antonio Mohamed’s main component of his team is the spectacular offense which has scored 18 goals, 10 of those 18 goals coming from Aviles Hurtado and Rogelio Funes Mori. Monterrey should have no problem defeating an unimpressive Santos Laguna side that is currently in a transitional phase.

Santos Laguna made a controversial decision and fired manager Jose Manuel de la Torre after the team lost 2-1 against Cruz Azul away from home. Robert Siboldi has been hired as the new boss for Los Guerreros but is unclear if the team has long-term plans with the Uruguayan manager. The loss against Cruz Azul was filled with controversy as Jorge Sanchez, Gael Sandoval and Julio Furch all received red cards in the game.

The three will not be available for this game and will severely weaken an already struggling team who cannot find its form. This will be an almost impossible task for Robert Sibolidi’s first task under his new team and it seems unlikely for Santos to even scrape a point out of the game.
