Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has praised Juan Foyth after the youngster made his debut for the club during its 1-0 Carabao Cup victory over Barnsley on Tuesday.

Barnsley played well during the game and up until the 60th minute, Spurs did not manage a shot at goal. However a strike from Dele Alli ultimately proved decisive and the North London club went on to win 1-0.

Pochettino used the opportunity to hand the 19-year-old Foyth, who arrived from Estudiantes, his debut and despite his lack of experience, Foyth looked composed and confident throughout the game.

Pochettino has now praised the player for his performance during the game and said, “It is difficult because he plays his first game with not too much time to know the way that we play or to work with the team, the whole team I think he was calm and relaxed in the game.

“I am happy because obviously it is difficult, he came from Argentina to play in England it is not easy and then his debut is at Wembley, that is more pressure on the debut.”
