Chivas vs Pumas 2017 Match Preview

Chivas has been the most disappointing team in the Liga MX Apertura 2017, currently in 15th place with eight points. Los Rojiblancos seem to be heading in the right direction coming off a dominant 3-1 win against Pachuca away from home. Chivas was propelled to victory in that game by unlikely heroes as Michael Perez, Javier Lopez and Carlos Fierro scored their first goals of the season to get the three points from the game.

Alan Pulido has been declared fit to play and may feature in this match, which could be a huge factor for Matias Almeyda’s team going forward. El Rebano Sagrado should win this game especially at home with not much pressure from its opponent.

Pumas UNAM has also been a very disappointing team in this Clausura 2017, currently in 17th place with only six points. Los Felinos fired manager Paco Palencia after a loss against Monarcas Morelia in week 6 of the competition. Sergio Egea has taken over as the manager since then but there has not even been a slight change with the team, losing two consecutive games under Egea. Nicolas Castillo is set to miss this game due to an injury, which should severely affect Pumas UNAM.

The Chilean striker has scored five out of the six goals that Pumas UNAM have in the tournament and obtaining a favorable result will be nearly impossible without him in the lineup. The game should be interesting between two of the ‘top four’ teams in Mexican soccer facing off.
