Celtic linked with winter move for very promising defender from Premier League side

Celtic vs Hearts

As per The Sun, Celtic are interested in swooping on Swansea defender and under-23 captain Joe Rodon when the transfer window reopens in January.

The Wales youth international is highly rated as they come back home, with a lot tipping him to make the senior teams for club and country very soon.

The Hoops aren’t the only side interested in Rodon, 19. Manchester City are also keen, with Blues boss Pep Guardiola a fan of the playing style of the teenage defensive sensation.

The Etihad outfit want to prise the Welsh wonderkid away from home, but Bhoys manager Brendan Rodgers is looking at a loan deal till the end of the season, and he stands a chance as a result.

Celtic need centre-back reinforcements having failed to land any during the summer, and Rodgers is convinced the ball-playing young defender could make a fine addition.

With an opportunity to finally play first team football, having not made his senior bow for Swansea yet, available at Parkhead, Rodon could be tempted into agreeing to a switch.

The Scottish Premiership defending champions have a local treble to retain this term, with a lot of games to play week-in, week-out.

While a move is mainly to afford the Swansea Academy product the chance to further grow, his quality means he could become a long-term temporary signing in the mould of Manchester City’s Patrick Roberts.
