Zabaleta explains what West Ham have to do to returning to winning ways

West Ham defender Pablo Zabaleta has called on the Hammers to learn from his former club Manchester City in order to improve their results this season.

The Hammers have begun the new season in poor form after losing all three of their opening League fixtures.

They will surely need to improve their results immediately or this season could prove to be a relegation dogfight.

The Argentina international Zabaleta believes that building strong home form is necessary if the East London club wishes to do well this season. Whilst at City last season, the 32-year-old did not lose a single home fixture.

The defender believes that if the Hammers emulate his former side, they can do well. He said, “Winning your home matches is always very important. The points you collect at your own stadium will go a long way to showing how well you do in a season.

“When we won the title twice with Manchester City, both times our home form was the reason we won the Premier League. We won 18 out of 19 home games in 2012, and lost just once in 2014.

“Obviously, we are not going to match those records, but we do need to win more home games than we did last season if we are to achieve our targets this year.”
