Jamie Vardy gives his thoughts regarding Dele Alli controversy

Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy has defended Dele Alli over his middle finger gesture which was made during England’s World Cup qualification win over Slovakia.

Alli has since claimed that the gesture was made as a joke towards his team-mate Kyle Walker. He could however, be set to face punishment for his actions as Fifa are currently investigating the incident.

Many fans and pundits have blasted Alli for his behavior claiming that it was immature and that he should have known better. Vardy however, feels that it was harmless and the incident is something that has been blown out of proportion.

The 30-year-old Vardy said, “The middle finger? Come on, it’s harmless. It’s just something that has been blown out of proportion. He was doing it to Walks.

“It’s just harmless banter and has been blown way out of proportion. They’re always having a laugh and a giggle. That’s just how they are.

“They were team-mates for a few years. They’re going to like to mess around, especially now that Walks has moved on himself.”
