As per YEP, Leeds striker Caleb Ekuban has been further ruled out of action for the next 8 weeks after undergoing surgery on a broken foot bone.
The Ghanaian international picked up the knock on his league debut – the 2-nil win over Sunderland 3 Saturdays ago.
After taking time to assess the level of damage, Leeds decided it was best to allow Ekuban go under the knife, and the surgery procedure was carried out last week, at the start of the international break.
The news come as a huge blow to manager Thomas Christiansen who would have loved to have all his 4 new strikers available for selection.
Ekuban, 23, arrived from Chievo on a 4-year deal for £500,000 in July, having spent last season on loan at Albanian Superliga side Partizani Tirana, where he scored 17 goals in 34 league games.
The Italy-born striker would hope to fully recuperate on time in order to return to action before Christmas.
Leeds remain unbeaten thus far, and can retain their red-hot form with the current crop of strikers available to Christiansen.
The quartet of Pierre-Michel Lasogga, Jay-Roy Grot, Pawel Cibicki and Kemar Roofe should give the Spanish boss selection headaches for the time being, and Ekuban’s return would only make Leeds depth at the front regain more strength.
