Tottenham star reportedly makes contractual demands to the club

According to reports, Tottenham star Toby Alderweireld has requested that the North London club hand him an improved contract.

The Belgian international Alderweireld is now regarded as one of the best centre-backs in world football and should his wish not be granted, he could well end up moving to a fresh challenge as there will be many clubs vying for his signature.

According to a report published by the Sun, Alderweireld’s father Vic and one of his advisors Stijn Francis approached Spurs to ask for an improved contract for the player.

Mauricio Pochettino will know that his team will have to act fast if they wish to secure the future of the player.

However Daniel Levy, the club’s chairman is known to be one of the toughest negotiators in world football and it remains to be seen whether he will give in to the demands.

Francis is reported to have said, “When you look at Toby’s statistics, they are impressive. Either he deserves an appropriate contract, or else he should be given a transfer.

“Seven or eight big European clubs are interested in signing him. There are not many central defenders around who can play like he can. But these clubs will have to negotiate with Tottenham’s chairman, Daniel Levy.”
