Azerbaijan is currently fifth in Group C with seven points and far behind from first-place Germany and second-place Northern Ireland. While the Eurasian side has not been the best team in the competition it has achieved some surprising results like a 1-0 win against Norway at home and a scoreless draw against the Czech Republic away from home.

San Marino is coming from a disastrous 3-0 loss against Northern Ireland at home and chances of obtaining points from this game do not look promising. Azerbaijan does have the more talented side and should pick up the three points from this game like it did the last time the two teams played each other.
