Match Preview
Azerbaijan is currently fifth in Group C with seven points and far behind from first-place Germany and second-place Northern Ireland. While the Eurasian side has not been the best team in the competition it has achieved some surprising results like a 1-0 win against Norway at home and a scoreless draw against the Czech Republic away from home.
The latest result for Milli was a 2-0 loss against Norway away from home but this should prove to be a much more winnable game especially with the home-field advantage.
San Marino has been one of the worst teams in these World Cup qualifiers, having lost all seven of its games played and having a woeful goal differential of negative 32. The microstate side has only scored one goal in seven games and has allowed 33 goals.
San Marino is coming from a disastrous 3-0 loss against Northern Ireland at home and chances of obtaining points from this game do not look promising. Azerbaijan does have the more talented side and should pick up the three points from this game like it did the last time the two teams played each other.
