Match Preview
Zambia currently only has one point from two games in these World Cup Qualifiers and is chasing Group B leaders Nigeria, who have nine points from three games played. The Southern African side arguably has the weakest squad in Group B with Algeria, Cameroon and Nigeria also forming part of the group.
Most of the players play domestically with two players who play in Russia, one in South Africa and four players who militate on Israeli team Hapoel Ra’anana. The Copper Bullets did achieve a 1-1 tie against Cameroon away from home in their latest game in these qualifiers and this should be a winnable game at home.
Algeria has also struggled in these early stages of the qualifiers with only a point from the first two games as well but does have a much stronger squad than Zambia. The Desert Warriors do have some top-class talent on their squad featuring players like Faouzi Ghoulam, Yacine Brahimi, Nabil Bentaleb, Rachid Ghezzal, Islam Slimani and Riyad Mahrez.
The Greens did have a decent start to this third round of qualifiers with a 1-1 draw against Cameroon but suffered a woeful 3-1 loss against Nigeria in the following game. This should be a highly contested encounter between two teams who need to start picking up points and Algeria should come out on top with the quality on its roster.
