English football legend Alan Shearer has praised Tottenham for doing exactly what they needed to do on transfer deadline day.
The North London club added Serge Aurier to their squad to replace Kyle Walker and also recruited Spanish striker Fernando Llorente to provide competition to Harry Kane.
All in all, Spurs made five signings this summer. Apart from Aurier and Llorente, they also signed young sensation Davinson Sanchez as well as Paulo Gazzaniga and Argentinean youngster Juan Foyth.
Shearer believes that the club did what was necessary to help achieve their goals and said, “Spurs did some good business at the back end of the transfer window.
“They had to get more bodies in and they did with Fernando Llorente and Serge Aurier. Llorente is cover for Harry Kane, he also gives them a different option and he could also line up alongside him if needed.”
After narrowly missing out on winning the Premier League for the past two consecutive seasons, Mauricio Pochettino’s team will be looking to finally lift the League crown and challenge for major silverware this season.
