Liverpool legend says 30-year-old West Ham man is nearing the end of his career

Former Liverpool star Danny Murphy has suggested to the London Evening Standard that West Ham captain Mark Noble is coming towards the end of his career.

The 30-year-old Noble has a close bond with the East London club as he is a youth product of the team for whom he has spent his entire professional career.

Noble’s performances were strong during the 2015-16 campaign and some even called for him to be called up to the England national team.

Last season however, his performances dropped off dramatically, with some calling for him to be dropped from the Hammers side and he has also been unable to regain his good form this term so far.

Murphy has now suggested that the Hammers midfield is not as strong as it might be and that Noble could be approaching the end of his career. He said, “Perhaps the midfield is not as strong as it might be. Mark Noble is a fine player but he is coming towards the end, but I am confident they have enough to ensure a solid season.”

“Late last night Sporting Lisbon made contact to accept the original offer, but unfortunately it was just too late in the day, and we simply did not have enough time to put the player through a medical.

“We were not prepared, as a club, to buy a player for that amount of money without him having gone through adequate medical checks.”
