Match Preview

Georgia is currently fifth in Group D of these UEFA World Cup qualifiers with only three points from the first six games. Group D is highly competitive with four teams still in contention for the top spot in the group and Georgia has almost no chance of contending for a World Cup spot.

The Crusaders have an interesting squad with players who play all across Europe and even one MLS Player, Valeri Qazaishvili of the San Jose Earthquakes. The squad does still not compare to Ireland’s squad as there is a very clear quality gap between the two teams.

The Republic of Ireland is currently second in Group D with 12 points just behind on goal differential to first-place Serbia. Martin O’Neill has a solid side that all plays in England with the exception of Jonny Hayes of Scottish side Celtic and Kevin Doyle of MLS team Colorado Rapids. Some of the more intriguing players on The Green Army include Robbie Brady, James McClean, James McCarthy and Shane Long but the absence of Seamus Coleman due to injury is a big blow to the team.

The Boys in Green defeated Georgia 1-0 the first time the two teams met in Dublin and this should be another three points for Martin O’Neill’s team.
