According to the Scottish Sun, Rangers are looking to complete a late move for Cardiff left-back Declan John, with a loan-to-buy deal on the cards ahead of Thursday’s deadline.
The Wales international is firmly behind Joe Bennett in manager’s Neil Warnock plans, starting just once for Cardiff since the appointment of the current boss in October.
The 22-year-old defender has one year to run on his current contract, and it appears the Welsh outfit are willing to let him go for profit this window.
Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha wants stiffer competition and a quality cover for Gers’ first-choice left-back Lee Wallace, and despite already bringing in 10 players thus far, he is keen on including John in his first-team plans at Ibrox.
The left-back was a regular in Cardiff’s last and only Premier League campaign till date, making over 20 appearances for the Welsh side.
John is a promising talent who, such is his versatility and talent on the ball that he can also be deployed on the left wing and as a left wing-back.
With Rangers hoping to finish best of the rest in the Premiership and also try their hands on clinching some cup silverware this term, a player of Declan John’s calibre could come handy.
