Legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson has backed Liverpool in the controversial Philippe Coutinho transfer saga.
The 25-year-old Coutinho became one of the Catalan giants main transfer targets this summer following the departure of Neymar to PSG.
Despite the Spanish giants submitting a number of bids, Jurgen Klopp’s men have insisted that the player is not for sale.
The Brazilian also handed in a transfer request to the Reds and has not featured for his club this season which according to reports is due to injury.
Though Coutinho did not leave this summer, it will be hard to see him not leaving during a transfer window in the near future unless he has a dramatic decline in form.
Whilst talking about the transfer saga, Ferguson backed the Merseyside club saying, “It’s disappointing because I’m sure that, in the case of Liverpool, they did a very good job in making Coutinho the player he is today.”
“So, it’s a bit disappointing you have to deal with it and the transfer window doesn’t help in that situation.”
