Match Preview
France is currently second in Group A with 13 points just behind on goal differential to Sweden in first. Les Bleus have a world-class squad and there were not many surprises with this squad, the addition of Lyon’s Nabil Fekir was one of the more notable inclusions. The injured Raphael Varane wil be replace with Stoke City’s Kurt Zouma, who has only made two career appearances with the French national team. Didier Deschamps counts with one of the more talented squads in world football today and should pick up the three points from the game especially playing at home.
The Netherlands have not had an ideal run in these qualifiers currently third in Group A with 10 points. This is a crucial game for the Dutch side and a loss could seriously complicate the goal of qualifying for the 2018 World Cup. Manager Dick Advocaat has a solid squad with a good mix of experienced players like Arjen Robben, Wesley Sneijder and Robin Van Persie but also a young core.
The defense is particularly young as seven out of the eight defenders on the roster do not exceed the age of 25. Memphis Depay will be one of the more interesting players to look at on the Netherlands as he is familiar with some of the players on France’s roster and can cause problems going forward. The game should be an exciting and hard-fought game but the home-field advantage may propel Los Bleus to the victory.
