According to Danish outlet BT, Serie A giants Fiorentina and Lazio are interested in the services of Celtic defender Erik Sviatchenko, but it’s unlikely that a move would go through for the 25-year-old Denmark international before Thursday’s transfer deadline.
Celtic have already rejected a £2.7million bid from FC Copenhagen for Sviatchenko last week, as they are holding out for around £3.5million for the centre-back.
The former FC Midtjylland stopper arrived Parkhead January 2016 in a £1.5million four-and-a-half deal, and having fallen out of manager Brendan Rodger’s XI, with Jozo Simunovic and Dedryck Boyata the Northern Irishman’s choice centre-back pairing, a move appears to be on the card.
Besiktas and Leicester City were also keen on Sviatchenko, but his future would likely depend on if Celtic are able to land another central-defender before the window shuts.
A move for Ajax Cape Town’s Rivaldo Coetzee fell through in the last minute, as the Hoops were a successful medical away from landing the South African.
Former loanee and Manchester City’s Belgium international Jason Denayer is being linked with a late move, and that could pave way for Sviatchenko’s exit.
The Dane made 28 league appearances last term and 14 in the one before, scoring once as Celtic won back-to-back Scottish Premiership titles.
