West Ham reportedly keen on bringing quality goalkeeper as competition for Hart

Joe Hart

According to Dutch news outlet Voetbal International, West Ham have lodged a £2.8million bid for PSV shotstopper Jeroen Zoet, with a view to making the Netherlands international a key competition for Manchester City loanee Joe Hart.

Hart has leaked 10 EPL goals in just 3 games this term, with 6 coming against Southampton and Newcastle, mid and lower-table sides.

Hammers’ manager Slaven Bilic has to turn in good results in his next couple of games in order not to get the boot, and bringing in Zoet would help keep Hart on his toes.

While the Dutch outlet reports that West Ham’s bid for the Dutch international has been turned down, with PSV holding out for double their offer, it’s understood that the Eredivisie giants would be involved in a lot of incoming and outgoing transfers in the hours leading to transfer deadline day, giving the Hammers a chance of getting Zoet.

With the experience, reflex and statistics of the 25-year-old, he could prove to be the man to give Hart a run for the money, though his arrival might also be dependent on Adrian’s situation.

Hart has failed to live up to expectations, and while his defence hasn’t been the most reliable, much more has been expected of him.

Zoet would be a wake-up-call type of signing for the England international should he arrive, and West Ham no doubt need the best man to man their goal this season.
