Unfair to compare Brendan Rodgers to other Celtic managerial legends

One of the big things coming out of the last week had to do was Celtic advancing into the Champions League proper for the second straight season under Brendan Rodgers.

The Hoops have made the world’s great cup competition yet again, and they will have dates with Bayern and PSG as a result.

However, instead of being happy with being included and getting the cash windfall from it, some Celtic fans have gone a little mad when discussing their Northern Irish manager.

There is no shortage of history in Europe for Celtic, with the Lisbon Lions and other great moments taking place but that was a different time and place. Almost a totally different game.

Fans have every right to voice their opinion, no doubt, but it is unfair to say that the current manager isn’t as good as previous ones were. Rodgers have been brilliant to get them to here, and he’s got the club to think in a brand new light.

That accounts for a lot, and you never know what can happen from here. The money that comes with this success could vault them into a much better position going forward and that is a start of a new era in which Rodgers will one day be the measuring stick.
