Sunderland boss Simon Grayson abandoned plans to go and watch his favorite band Kasabian following his side’s 3-0 defeat at the hands of Barnsley. The loss highlighted that this season could prove to be long and difficult for the Black Cats.
The Black Cats are currently in 19th position on the Championship standings and Grayson will have realistic expectations about his side’s chances for this season.
However he will know that should things not improve soon, his side may be involved in yet another relegation dogfight.
Though Grayson’s side were outplayed during the game, they did dominate for the first 25 minutes and this is something that they can take positives from.
Grayson said following the game, “That display hasn’t just ruined my night, it’s ruined my fortnight,” fumed the Black Cats boss, who headed into the international break on the back of two consecutive league defeats which have left his side 19th in the Championship.
“It’s not acceptable to lose a game in the manner that we did and by the scoreline that we did,For 25-30 minutes we were the dominant team, played well and had some good opportunities.”
