According to Portuguese newspaper Record (cited on Sports Witness), Benfica president Luis Filipe Vieira has reduced the asking price for striker Raul Jimenez from £46million to £37million.
The Mexico international has been a target of West Ham and Everton all summer, but his initial buyout price had driven the Premier League suitors away.
Benfica have been linked with Inter Milan striker Gabigol, with the Brazilian now preferring to move on loan to the club ahead of Sporting Lisbon.
The Portuguese giants and Primeira Liga champions have to cut cost if a move for the Brazilian is to be completed, and they are now willing to let Jimenez go, and could still further reduce their selling price.
Everton and West Ham will be left to battle it out for the 26-year-old, with the latter most likely to strongly press for his signature having lost their first 3 Premier League games of the season.
The Toffees are also still in need of a targetman, with manager Ronald Koeman insisting one would arrive before the window shuts.
While Jimenez majorly came off the bench for Lisbon last term, his physical strength means he could settle down quickly at the topflight and force himself into the starting XI of any side that land him.
