Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Joe Burton has linked up with fellow Championship side Burton Albion in a deal that will run until January.
The 26-year-old Mason is surplus to requirements at Wolves having yet to feature under Nuno Espirito Santo.
The club are also set to sign a new striker before the end of the summer and the fact that they have allowed Mason to leave on loan indicates that they have no place for him in their future plans.
Burton joined Wolves from Cardiff City in January 2016 and had netted eight goals in all competitions for the team. He will now likely be given regular playing time with the Brewers especially as they are set to be without Liam Boyce for some time due to a long-term injury.
Albion boss Nigel Clough said about the deal, “We were making enquiries about Joe at the same time (as missing out on Cauley Woodrow) and we are delighted to get a deal done until January.
“It’s a bit like the Sean Scannell situation – 26 years old, approaching his prime, wants to play games and we are looking forward to seeing him play for us.”
