Former Tottenham star Darren Anderton has said that the club risk falling out of the Premier League top six should they fail to give their players the salaries that they deserve.

Danny Rose recently went public and criticized the North London club for underpaying its players. The 27-year-old Rose also added that he would be open to moving to a club that can offer him better chances of winning trophies.

Hugo Lloris and Harry Kane are currently the highest paid players at Spurs, earning £100,000-a-week. Kyle Walker meanwhile, who left the club this summer to join Manchester City, now earns £150,000-a-week.

Therefore, it is difficult for Spurs to attract top players as they cannot afford to pay the same salaries as many of their counterparts.

Anderton now feels that this could eventually lead to the club falling out of the top six due to their tight wage structure by saying, “Tottenham are at risk of falling out of the top 6 if they don’t spend the money that others around them are spending.

“The players that Spurs are lucky to have at the moment wouldn’t be turning their heads if they were earning the same amount the others around them were.”
