As per Correio da Manhã (cited on Sports Witness), West Ham are interested in securing the services of Benfica defensive midfielder Ljubomir Fejsa, but are hesitant to make a move due to the injury woes of the Serbia international.
Fejsa, a key member of the Eagles well-known for his tackling, blocks, interceptions and passes, has a £32million release clause, and with the William Carvalho deal getting stalled over valuation differences, the Hammers might have a backup plan in the Benfica man.
Interestingly, Fejsa could also become the lucky charm West Ham need to get close to winning something.
The 29-year-old defensive midfielder has racked up 10 league titles in a row with 3 different clubs.
He recently led Benfica to their 4th consecutive title since arriving, won the Superleague Greece on 3 consecutive occasions with Olympiacos, while also winning the Serbian SuperLiga with Partizan thrice.
Fejsa also has 9 cups with the aforementioned trio, and perhaps, maybe some of that good fortune could follow him to the Olympic Stadium should a deal be secured.
West Ham could do with a lot of it going forward having suffered a dismal maiden campaign in their new home last term.
