Manchester City star accuses Everton man of diving

Manchester City star Fernandinho has accused Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin of diving to get Kyle Walker sent off.

The Brazilian international was not happy after the 27-year-old Walker was sent off just before half time for an innocuous challenge on Calvert-Lewin when the Citizens were down 1-0 through a goal by Wayne Rooney.

Fernandinho was clearly frustrated at the way in which Walker was sent off and said, “It’s tough to say something about a referee’s decision, you have to be careful.

“But we are in the Premier League and it is so demanding. And when you have some players who dive and they are so soft, it is a little bit weird. But if the referee takes this decision you have to keep going and look for the next game.”

Though City had to play much of the game with 10 men, they eventually managed to draw equal and gain a point from the game through a goal from Raheem Sterling.

The Toffees were also reduced to ten men during the second half after Morgan Schneiderlin was given his marching orders.
