Match Preview

Pumas UNAM is a very unstable and unpredictable team currently standing in 11th with six points. The Felines have two wins coming against Pachuca and Lobos BUAP but have suffered three defeats against Atlas, Club America and Tigres UANL. All the wins have been at home and all the losses have been away from home, suggesting that this could be a favorable result for Pumas UNAM.

The Mexico City Team is coming off a tough 2-0 loss against Tigres UANL away from home but could potentially bounce back in this game. Nicolas Castillo has been the most important player for Paco Palencia currently with four goals in these five games. The rest of the team has been average with a very inconsistent defense and goalkeeper, Alfredo Saldivar. The Liga MX seems to be more competitive than ever and Pumas UNAM needs the favorable result from this game to be on track for success this season.

Monarcas Morelia had three consecutive draws to start off the tournament but are currently coming from two consecutive losses. La Monarquia’s most recent result was a 2-1 loss against Pachuca at home, the positive from that defeat was that Raul Ruidiaz finally scored his first goal of the season. The Peruvian striker had scored nine goals in the Clausura 2017 but had been suffering a goal drought to start off this Apertura 2017.

The biggest problem for the team from Michoacán has been the inconsistent offense which has only produced four goals, one of which was an own-goal by Puebla’s Brayan Angulo. The defense has been decent with a very formidable goalkeeper in between the sticks in Sebastian Sosa. This game could go either way at the Estadio Olimpico Universitario but Pumas will have that home-field advantage on their side which could be the decider.
