Celtic striker reportedly set for exit to free up famous shirt number for summer arrival

As per the Scottish Sun, Celtic striker Nadir Ciftci is headed for a season-long loan at League One side Plymouth Argyle, a move expected to help free up space and the legendary number 7 shirt number for temporary returnee Patrick Roberts.

Having had a splendid time on loan at Celtic Park last season, the English winger opted to return for another stint with competition for playing time still very stiff at Manchester City.

Ahead of the new campaign, manager Brendan Rodgers has already added Jonny Haye, Olivier Ntcham, and Kundai Benyu to his ranks, and having Roberts back in another boost.

Meanwhile, the return of the young winger could all but end the Celtic career of Ciftci.

The £1.5million-rated Turkish forward has been told he is free to leave permanently, and chances are that happens after his loan at Plymouth.

On the other hand, Roberts has endeared himself to the Hoops faithful since his impressive outing last season. The England youth international spent 18 months on loan, scoring 15 league goals in 43 Premiership appearances.

His performances attracted the likes of Nice and Southampton, but the 20-year-old favours a return to Parkhead, and is expected to arrive this new week.

Re-signing Roberts on another loan deal is definitely a huge plus to Celtic’s ambitions this season, and not only would he be integral to their defence of the local treble, he could also come handy in ensuring they go a step further by making it out of the Champions League group stage.
